A note from DK Imagery

I know life with pets (and humans!) can be unpredictable. This policy is here to keep things clear and fair for everyone, while also protecting the time I set aside for you.

Booking & payments

A non-refundable retainer equal to 20% of your invoice total is required to secure your session date and time. Your booking isn’t confirmed until the retainer is received.
Your retainer is applied to your final invoice total.
The remaining balance is due 7 days before your photoshoot (unless your invoice states otherwise). If the balance is not paid by the due date, your session may be released.

Rescheduling

If you need to move your session, please let me know as soon as possible.
With 7+ days’ notice, you may reschedule once, and your retainer will transfer to the new date (subject to availability).
With less than 7 days’ notice, rescheduling may require a new retainer to secure a new date, as the original time is unlikely to be rebooked.
If there is a genuine emergency or illness (including your pet), please reach out — I’ll always do my best to find a kind solution.

Cancellations

If you cancel more than 7 days before your session, your retainer is forfeited. Any additional amounts paid will be refunded, less any non-recoverable costs already incurred specifically for your session (for example, location fees, permits, or props purchased for your shoot).
If you cancel within 7 days of your session, all payments made are non-refundable.
If your session time is successfully rebooked, I will refund any amounts you have paid beyond the retainer, less any non-recoverable costs.

No-shows and late arrival

If you’re running late, please call/text as soon as possible. Arriving late reduces photography time and may affect the variety of images we can capture.
If you are more than 30 minutes late with no contact, the session will be treated as a no-show and will be forfeited, with no refunds.

Mini sessions, pop-ups and market events

Because these sessions are offered on limited, fixed dates and time slots, full payment is required at booking and is non-refundable.
If you cannot attend, you may transfer your booking to someone else (same date and time) by notifying DK Imagery in writing at least 48 hours beforehand.
If you contact me with a genuine emergency/illness, I may offer a session credit (valid 12 months) if I am able to fill your slot.

Weather and safety

For outdoor sessions, your pet’s safety comes first. If severe weather conditions (storms, heavy wind, extreme heat) make the session unsafe, I will reschedule your session and all payments will transfer to the new date.
If you prefer to cancel rather than reschedule in these circumstances, your retainer will be forfeited and any further refund will be assessed in line with the cancellation terms above.

Photographer cancellation

In the rare event that I need to cancel due to illness or other unexpected circumstances, you can choose to reschedule with all payments transferred, or receive a full refund of all money paid (including the retainer).
If a mutually agreed substitute photographer is available, I may offer this option.

Force majeure

If circumstances outside either party’s control (for example, natural disaster or government restrictions) make the session impossible or unsafe, we will work together to reschedule. If rescheduling isn’t possible within 12 months, you will receive a refund of amounts paid less any reasonable, non-recoverable costs incurred.

How to notify

Cancellations and reschedule requests must be made in writing to info@dkimagery.com.au (or by replying to your booking email). The time of your email will be used as the time of notice.

Consumer rights

Nothing in this policy excludes or limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
